About Radiant Joint Alliance

Radiant Joint Alliance is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to reliable information and community outreach about low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) for osteoarthritis and degenerative joint conditions.

Our Mission

Radiant Joint Alliance is a patient-centered nonprofit dedicated to providing clear, plain-language information about low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) for osteoarthritis and degenerative joint conditions. Through patient education, community outreach, and a nationwide directory, we help narrow the information gap between the medical specialties involved in osteoarthritis care, enabling patients and caregivers to have more informed conversations with their healthcare team.

Why We Started This

LDRT is available at a growing number of hospitals and radiation oncology practices across the United States. Major health systems, including MD Anderson, Penn Medicine, and Cleveland Clinic, now offer it for selected patients with osteoarthritis. It's been used in parts of Europe for decades.

Despite that, most patients, caregivers, and even many doctors have never heard of it. Joint pain is usually managed by primary care, orthopedics, or rheumatology, while radiation is delivered by an entirely different specialty. Those two worlds rarely talk to each other, and that gap is exactly what this site exists to close.

We built a plain-language explanation of what LDRT is, what the evidence actually shows, and a directory of hospitals and practices that offer it, so patients can walk into their next appointment with a real question to ask.

What We Do
  • Provide clear, reliable information about LDRT and other arthritis treatment options
  • Share educational materials through senior centers, assisted living communities, libraries, YMCAs, other community organizations, and local health events
  • Maintain a nationwide directory of hospitals and radiation oncology practices offering LDRT
  • Help patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals learn about this treatment option
  • Support community outreach through student ambassadors and local partnerships

Medical content on this site is reviewed by our Medical Advisory Board of board-certified radiation oncologists.
